| The Somali Women’s Project—WALAALO/New WORLD Theater is engaging the women of Springfield's Somali refugee community in art making, skill building, and cross-cultural exchanges, aimed at creating income opportunities, social integration, community cohesion, and self-sufficiency. Support from the Women's Fund and its donors is enabling us to expand the project by helping to fund a Project Organizer position filled by a member of the Somali community; by underwriting the training of volunteer ESOL teachers; and by supporting artistic workshops in storytelling, movement, and song-making that will develop into a full-scale production showcasing the Somali community's history, aspirations, and vitality. | |
